The oil industry, or petroleum industry, is a high-powered, international field with plenty of job opportunities in all areas, including engineering, support, and maritime. Petroleum is a crucial resource to many industries due to energy consumption, making the petroleum industry the most in-demand of all job fields.
The day-to-day experiences of an oil worker will greatly depend on the type of job you have applied for in the oil industry. As an engineer, you will be required to have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. As a field service tech, you will be required to have at least a 2-year or 4-year degree and a certification. Expect a long and rewarding workday with the opportunity to work both indoors in an office and outdoors on an oil rig.
