Forklift operators are responsible for using a forklift to move and relocate stock in a warehouse setting. In addition, operators are also required to count and stack merchandise as needed within the warehouse. They are responsible for operating the vehicle in a safe and effective manner, keeping damage of merchandise to a bare minimum.
Forklift operators are offered an extremely flexible schedule, as warehouses operate at all hours of the day and night. Depending on when shipments are received and the size of shipments, expect typical work hours, with 8-hour shifts and plenty of opportunities to work overtime. Employers typically look for employees with plenty of work experience operating a forklift as well as those that are very focused on safety.
