About Software Careers

The field of software presents two main jobs; software developer and software engineer. Software developers help to maintain current systems and work closely with a staff of designers to ensure quality control is in check on all parts of the systems. A software engineer is pretty much the same job, but engineers are more involved with testing the actual systems that developers create.

What to Expect When Interviewing

Whether a software developer or engineer, the minimum education requirement is a high school diploma. Depending on the company, a bachelor’s degree or showing competency of skills may be necessary. Because the hours tend to shift around and be a little lengthy, an open schedule and ability to see a project through from start to finish, is necessary. Other skills that are needed are staying up-to-date on the latest technology, analyzing, team work, problem solving, debugging, and quality control.
