Pharmacy involves several different job duties. Depending on the facility, pharmacists may simply fulfill medication request or they can work with customers as well. The responsibility of pharmacists is to, sometimes, acquire prescription information from doctors or customers and be sure that the correct amount is given. Another part of the job is to explain to customers, the directions for taking each type of medication and which medications not to mix.
A bachelor’s degree in pharmacy is absolutely necessary for any entry-level position. A Pharm.D. is a professional degree that is necessary as a professionally held degree for a pharmacy position. People skills are required when working with so many patients every day. It is important to have knowledge of proper patient care procedures, laws and ethics of pharmacy, pharmacy specific software, and extensive knowledge in biology, toxicology, anatomy, and chemistry.
