Patient care technicians are responsible for taking care of patients that are either injured or ill. This is done with the supervision of the doctor or other medical professional. Clinical duties involved will be catheterizations, checking each patient’s vital signs and recording them as necessary, and collecting any samples that are needed. They will also assist patients in cleaning and eating.

What to Expect When Interviewing

The educational requirement for patient care technicians is that a certificate program must at least be completed and must have included previous training in the clinical setting. Because of the various tasks and schedules there are a number of skills that are required. The ability to work a flexible schedule is important along with having great time management, a good beside manner, organization, multitasking, clear written and verbal communication, and stamina to stay alert during long shifts.
