Home health aides are responsible for caring for patients who are either ill or injured, but from within the patient’s own home. While under supervision, they will help patients with taking their medications, checking blood pressure, breathing, and the patient’s pulse. They will also assists in changing any dressings and helping the patient to bathe and dress.
Most positions as a home health aide will require at least a certification in the field. Home health aides have many responsibilities so it requires a number of skills to make it in this position. Since they care for patients who wish to stay in their own home they have to have a great personality, be approachable, have patience, stay organized, a good memory, understand verbal and written communication from patients, and multitasking.
