When working with collections, the main principle is to work with customers on debts that are owed. Any past due loans, bills, or other forms of payments is to be handled by a collections agent. The agent will be the main contact for customers who owe money to certain companies. They will work with those customers and companies to reach a compromise on any debts.
Collections agents are required to have at least 1 to 3 months of relevant work experience for an entry-level position. Collections agents are presented with a number of stressful situations so it is necessary to be able to handle those types of issues. Many of those situations will require an agent to be good at listening to problems, solving those problems, and still producing positive results. With different companies using different types of software, technological skills are also needed.
