About Chipotle Careers

After graduating from culinary school, Chipotle founder Steve Ells borrowed $85,000 from his father and opened up the first Chipotle store. They calculated that in order to be profitable, he would need to sell at least 107 burritos per day. Within one month, they were selling over 1,000 a day. In 1998, McDonald’s made a small investment with Chipotle; within 3 years, they were Chipotle’s largest investor and had helped the chain grow from 16 locations to over 500. By 2006, McDonald’s fully divested from Chipotle. In 2011, Consumer Reports named Chipotle the best Mexican-food chain.

What to Expect When Interviewing

Most of Chipotle’s positions are customer service and supervisory. Depending on the position being sought, your interview may not differ much from other generic interviews you've experienced before. For top-tiered positions, you can expect a multitude of interviews, from phone to Skype and eventually face-to-face; for smaller cook and cashier positions, you can expect face-to-face interviews and an offer.
